For more than 50 years, ADNOC Drilling has drilled wells to enable ADNOC to sustainably unlock Abu Dhabi’s oil and gas wealth for the benefit of the nation. We have done so by reinforcing ADNOC’s long-standing commitment to environmental and social stewardship across our areas of operation.
As part of this, we are committed to making our contribution to ADNOC’s wider 2030 target to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity by 25%. We have already cut overall ADNOC Drilling CO2 emissions by nearly 147,000 tons and diesel consumption by over 13 million gallons through energy efficiency initiatives in the last five years.
As a responsible operator, we also utilize advanced, record-breaking horizontal and directional drilling methods or cluster drilling techniques. These let us drill more efficiently and reduce our ecological footprint, while our nine state-of-the-art island ‘walking’ rigs reduce the need for use of offshore jackup rigs, lowering impact on our marine environment.
Those achievements are cemented by investing in a locally trained, highly-skilled, Emirati-led, and diverse workforce, adhering to industry-leading HSE standards and governance, while pursuing innovative, technologically-focused and sustainable drilling practices.
Developing industry jobs is supplemented by our continued investments to contribute in the diversification of the UAE economy, from AED 7 billion for construction of UAE-built rigs, to the design and manufacture of home-grown pumping equipment worth AED 43 million.
As we move forward and enable ADNOC in delivering its production capacity growth plans, we will continue to strive to harness opportunities for greater efficiencies and lower footprint across our operations.
